So why I have decided to give myself the challenge this year of walking 26.2 miles of the Belfast Marathon I have no idea. Well I do a little, I have always watched the London marathon and thought some day I would love to run in it. Now I am getting older and know just how lazy busy I am I know there is no chance I would be able to train for it.
A few years ago I walked the 9 mile section of the marathon and raised money for the neonatal unit that R lived his short life in and it really gave me a taster to do more. I haven’t raised money for a few years now so I thought this would be an idea of both remembering R and giving something back as well as getting fit.
I am posting on here as if I don’t make a formal announcement then I will give up at the first hurdle. I asked MrR to walk with me but he is a fitness freak and said it would be too boring- thanks, I think he’s talking about walking rather than walking with me his wife of 11 years, but who knows.

So training should start today, I have packed a change of clothes and trainers and brought them to work but it is blowing a gale outside as well as lashing with rain. If I can get myself to go out in this and do a 5 mile walk at lunchtime then I will be doing good.
