When my elder sister (Na)decided she wanted an afternoon tea party to celebrate her 37th 30th birthday I have to admit I thought she was mad!  I volunteered to hold it at my house and we started to make preparations.

Invites were sent through facebook and by text and lists were made, I love lists! The food was split between a few of us and my eldest sister (Ni)decided champagne and wine were needed.

The party was today and after a disastrous morning when all my cupcakes went wrong, my icing bag split and my icing fell all over the floor everything was set up and we were ready to get started.

My sister (Na) brought along her tea-set bought from Emily loves Vintage and mum brought along my grandparents tea-set too.  We had cupcakes, tray-bakes, scones with jam and cream, shortbread, strawberries and champagne, raspberries, fresh cream, brownies, tea, coffee, sandwiches including the ubiquitous cucumber ones- these were eaten first even though mum had made them as a joke!

It was a lovely afternoon and a great idea Na we need to plan another party this time an evening one for the girls (can we still call ourselves girls if I am the youngest?) next time I will make sure to buy new teaspoons (Mine have all disappeared and I could only find 2 today!)

This week was another busy one that has flown by.

Monday a day at work and after work stopped off at my nephews 4th birthday party.  After this went with my mum to Belfast to visit my aunt and uncle in hospital  Got a few photos but need to get some time to work on them.

Tuesday at work again and in the evening had to pack for a trip away.

Wednesday an early start, left the house at 05:10 to head to the airport for a work trip.  Went to Essex for the day in the pouring rain- how is there a drought? I then returned to Heathrow to stay in a rank hotel- will do a post on it soon! At home K started back to her swimming lessons.

Thursday a packed day in the office in London and left work at 17:30 to go home.  Got to Heathrow to find flights delayed.  Was due home 20 minutes before MrR was to go to work and thankfully mum was able to mind as I was home over an hour later. Came home to find my two fast asleep in my bed.

Friday back into the office and after work went to mum and dads for chippy night. K and Buster had been at their grannies (my in-laws) during the day and had been showing off their cycling skills.

Saturday a girly day out! Went out with my sisters and friend to get a salt scrub and mud wrap and to laze about in the spa.  We followed that with a trip to Moira for lunch in The four trees which was lovely followed by a quick shop or in my case dream shop in Emily loves vintage.  Home at 18:00 and collected my two from their grandparents and then had a rushed food shop before home to get them to bed.  Once they were in bed I got out the sewing and did more work on the felt playhouse.

Sunday was a baking day! I tried a new recipe for Busters birthday cake.  I normally make a normal cake and decorate it and then make him his dairy egg and soya free chocolate cake.  This year I want to make one Gruffalo cake that he can eat.  I tried a courtyard cake but changed the ingredients, we didn’t have cocoa powder that didn’t contain dairy so I made it plain and we only had brown caster sugar.  I didn’t rate the end result but everyone else in the house loves it.  I will make it again but this time using white caster sugar and cocoa and hopefully it will taste a lot better.

I also started to make the sugarcraft decorations for Busters cake and so far have the mouse, fox and snake done and have tried to do a few of the ‘purple prickles’ for the Gruffalo’s back!

After finishing up we went to mum and dads for Sunday dinner and Buster decided he was going to be a monkey all day.  He seemed to be reacting to something and I had forgotten his medicine so it was partly my fault!

Home and both my two in bed for 19:00 and now I need to do some more sewing!

Next week is a quieter week but everyday is a day closer to the marathon walk!
