We are not morning people and in our house it seems to be the most stressful time of the day. I try to wake just before my two so I can check twitter wake up and get my eyes to open before demands are made!
Buster normally wakes next and comes running for hugs telling me he is hungry and needs something- normally from the top cupboard where biscuits and treats are kept. When all treats are refused buster has a tantrum gives in and we move on.
Next comes waking K this involves calling her, shouting her and then going down and removing the duvet and lifting her up to the sitting room. This is done to a soundtrack of K complaining how tired she is after only 12 hours sleep!
Once both are up the heated discussion over the TV rules begins- no TV until after cereal is eaten and everyone is dressed. Then we move to the table to eat, Buster normally spills his while K eats everything and clears up- no problems there!
Packed lunches are next on the list to be done while K and Buster get dressed. That’s the theory in practice it is normally like this:
- K get dressed
- Ok
- K take off your pyjamas
- I am
- K are you getting dressed?
- Yes
- K why are you still in your Pyjamas? Buster then joins in telling K to get dressed while he runs around in only his crocs
- K and Buster get ready now or I’m bringing you in your pants
Finally they are ready and the TV goes on while K gets her hair done. No matter how I try and do this we have shouts and crying. I have tried tangle teasers leave in conditioner etc but apparently everyone else does it better and they don’t hurt.
Once hair and lunches are finished we go down the hall to get teeth done, we normally travel by train with me being the lead carriage- whatever works I say!
When everyone is clean and ready we get ready to leave, for three people we have a lot of bags
- K’s schoolbag
- K’s lunch bag
- Busters clothes bag
- Busters lunch bag
- My handbag
- My laptop
- Inevitably I leave my lunch behind
Then it’s off to school and the child-minders and just 23 hours until we have to do it all over again. School runs start again in just two days – I haven’t missed them at all!
