A few months ago I started to make dolls and crafts and have posted pictures on here before now on the things I have produced. I thought it might be an idea to sell some on rather than fill the house with more toys.
Then came a huge spanner in the works CE marking – all toys or items that look like a toy and may be off interest to children need to be tested to comply with CE standards. In investigating this it seemed like a huge nightmare and hassle with certificates being required for so many different things, burn tests, tension tests etc. - it all started to both confuse and annoy me.
Roll on a while with no monkeys being made and I found two extremely helpful Facebook pages that have been set up to help and guide people through the process. I have now finally just finished testing my basic sock monkey and he has passed. Once I get my admin side sorted I can happily mark any monkeys made in the same way and know I am complying with trading standards. Without the Facebook groups I would still be pulling my hair out and if you read this post that’s something I really shouldn’t be doing!

Next up it will be testing for my cloth dolls but I need a rest before I start that!
