Just before I ended up going into hibernation I was offered the opportunity to try out a new game on the market. The company have been very patient at waiting for my review of the game and as promised here are our thoughts.
PLYT is marketed as a fast paced numeracy game. It is suitable from age 4 and as K and Buster are both working on numeracy we wanted to give this a go. Weeks of illness followed and every time we tried to get the game out to try we had to put it away again.
Finally everyone was well and out came the PLYT box. The box is extremely sturdy and inside you have a board, counters, 6 different dice and some cards which give or take chances away.
The premise of the game is to improve numeracy and more than that to improve multiplication. We changed the rules to make them similar for K and Buster and used them to add instead. We used two dice and K added up everyone’s scores getting faster the more we went round the board.
K and Buster loved this game, it made maths fun and I could see it as a great resource for anyone that wants to improve their children’s grasp on maths. We would be interested in trying this again in the future when K and Buster move on in their learning.
This is a great family friendly game and one that doesn’t take too long to play and although the subject matter may be serious we had a lot of fun going around the board. It can be purchased from PLYT.co.uk
disclosure: we were given a product to try out before returning, all opinions are my own.
