We were given the opportunity to try out an extended free trial for reading Eggs. Buster is just starting to try to learn his sounds while K is able to sight read most of the common words.

Learning to read
Learning to read is an important skill for all children, we wanted to make it an enjoyable experience for children too. Children love working and playing on the computer and the Reading Eggs program is all about bringing out the best in each child.
The program has been developed by a highly experienced team of educational teachers, writers and developers. The Reading Eggs program focuses on a core reading curriculum of phonics and sight words using skills and strategies essential for sustained reading success. It completely supports what children learn at school and will help to improve your child’s results at school.
I set K and Buster up and gave them their own profile. Both started at the beginning and are working their way through. Buster loves playing with it and is starting to recognise sounds etc while K is getting a lot more from it.
K is getting both computer skills as well as learning more about blends etc. All this while having fun and getting to ‘play’ on the computer. My only downside is that sometimes it is a little slow and K gets annoyed at having to repeat things at the same speed rather than quickly flick through.
My two really enjoy this and when we free up some spare money we will look into getting them memberships.
There is also a new maths program which looks interesting for the future.
we received a free extended trial period in order to provide a review all opinions are entirely our own.
