I got my 1st mobile phone when I moved to London. It was a huge brick that weighed a tonne- I thought it was great although I seldom used it.
Roll on just over a decade and now I would be lost without a mobile. It is always close to hand and more often than not actually in my hand. I use it for banking, social media, blogging, taking photos, music and sometimes even for speaking to people!
In fact I have two mobiles one for me and one for work. I have just given in to getting a B’Berry for work to keep up with emails etc. It will mean I am effectively on call 24/7 except I went and left it at home by mistake so have not had it for the last three days!
On this 3 day trip I have my mobile with me and my laptop and kindle, all have their place yet when on an aeroplane I get reduced to writing on a notepad as the seat belt sign being on means none of my gadgets can be used.

My kindle bought for the specific reason of taking away on work trips to avoid taking up space in my cabin bag has started to become redundant. I end up taking both the kindle and a paperback so this defeats the kindles purpose
I would normally have a camera close to hand too but due to space restrictions need to make do with the inbuilt one on my phone.
With all the technology at hand I think we I end up getting overwhelmed at times as I can’t switch off so maybe the enforced time on the aeroplane does me good.
It still leaves me twitchy though in case I miss something in that 60 minutes I can go online!
