I decided we should probably talk to Buster and K about ‘stranger danger’ and our conversation went as below:
MrR – K if someone you didn’t know told you they had sweets and you shoudl go with them to find you mum or dad what would you do?
K – go with them
MrR – No you wouldn’t you would shout ‘No, I don’t know you’ and then run back to the adult you were with
Take two with Buster
MrR – Buster if someone you didn’t know told you they had sweets and you should go with them to find you mum or dad what would you do?
Buster – (who hadn’t heard the above conversation) I would say nothing
MrR – would you go with them
Buster – No
so it’s only K that we have to work on!
K and Buster had the below conversation with my sister
K – why did you not drive your car home from grandas party
sister – I had some wine so you can’t drink if you have wine
K - so if you had wine for breakfast could you drive
sister – I wouldn’t have wine for breakfast but no I couldn’t drive
K – well I would have wine and drive when I am bigger
sister – the police would arrest you as you would be a danger to people
K – well when I am bigger I will be a policeman and be a danger to people as I will have wine and drive
Buster then decided he needed to join in
Buster – well when I am bigger and am the tooth-fairy I will drink wine and drive
Not sure we are teaching them correctly, the fact MrR doesn’t drink alcohol at all and me very seldom and only if it is very weak must mean my two don’t understand it at all- either that or we have a lifetime of phone calls from the police to look forward to in the future!
