Going to sleep under the stars?

As a child we always camped and spent our holidays in tents. We had all we ever needed, a kitchen complete with gas cooker, lights hooked up to the car battery and before that a gas lamp. I have fond memories of sleeping on a camping mat with my pillows and duvet and stepping over clothes on my way into my bedroom. Our tent had three double bedrooms and a large sitting room area. We also had an A-Team van as it was called locally- it was a black van with a red stripe and had been fitted out like a mobile home with kitchen, fridge, beds, sink, wardrobe etc. What we didn’t have was toilets or a shower and the traipse across the wet grass to go to the toilet isn’t always fun!

K would love to go camping but MrR has always been adamant we won’t and to date has been unmoving. This year however I have talked him into trying a weekend away camping later in the summer.

As I am sure he won’t want to repeat it too often if at all we are planning on borrowing rather than buying the tent but we will still need other basics. I believe the way to make it as bearable as possible for MrR is to make it comfortable and warm so have been on the look out for things to kit out the tent.

Double sleeping bag for camping

Warm sleeping bags, a comfortable air bed, new wellies- I love the new croc ones both for children and ladies! We won’t be bringing the stove etc as my sister will be there and she has all the essentials and luxuries too! Any suggestions for things we would desperately need?

We will also bring our own pillows and quilts and I might just try and pack some bunting to put on the ropes so we can tell our tent apart from a distance!

We will be only less than an hours drive from home so if it is really bad we will go home to sleep!

Wish me luck as if it is awful MrR will let me know, often I am sure!
