Shutter speed is the exposure time meaning the time the camera’s shutter is open.
Fast shutters are shown as a fraction i.e 1/250 a fast shutter freezes movement and is taken instantly
Slow shutter are shown in second i.e 3″ 3 seconds meaning the shutter is open for 3″ and as such some camera shake may be shown.
For slow shutter speeds it is always a good idea to use a tripod to avoid the camera shake as there is always a residual shake within your hands even just from breathing.
